So. Much. Holiday. Baking!

Hello friends!

It’s officially that time of year again, the lovely couple of weeks spanning the distance between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Otherwise known (in my head anyway) as the Holiday Baking Extravaganza!

It’s time for masses of cookies, cakes, cupcakes, brownies, all studded and stuffed with peppermint, chocolate, eggnog, and gingerbread.

Now I sat down for a few hours over Thanksgiving break for the grueling task of choosing which recipes to do on the blog. Why is is grueling, you may ask? Because I want to make them ALL.

However, there is this little thing called college that gets in the way of my just living in the kitchen, whipping up cookies and singing “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” with dozens of cups of hot cocoa and eggnog lattes.

Sigh, real life why must you get in the way of things??

So, before I dive in to all the lovely sweet treats I plan to feature here in the next few weeks, I thought I’d dedicate a post to the lovely runner up recipes that didn’t quite make the cut; not because they aren’t awesome, but because I just don’t have anywhere near enough time to try them all out.  But maybe you, my lovely reader, can.

Also, if you are looking for another way to be inspired, I stumbled upon some neat live-blogging happening on Pinterest. Tomkat Studio is hosting Pinterest Parties every Tuesday up until Christmas, from 9-10pm, with awesome holiday entertaining pins. Any one can become a part of the party by tweeting/pinning items with the hastag #holidayentertaining and then the coolest pins end up on the group board. It’s a super cool way to find new recipes and DIY projects, and even other bloggers you would never have known existed prior to the party

The festivities here On Sugar Mountain will kick off on Tuesday with my own brand new recipe for Eggnog Streusel Muffins!

Happy Baking!

Damn pesky real life getting in the way of everything, I prefer the domestic goddess fantasy life I live which is nothing close to my constant chasing of 3 kids and an unorganised life!

Great links. I also love that Christmas time is surrounded by pretty cookies, traditional fruit cakes and general chocolate covered comfort foods. Not to mention the cinnamon, eggnog, gingerbread and other traditional flavours. Gives me that Christmas feel.
