It’s that lovely time of year again: Girl Scout Cookie Season.
Though to be honest, it’s a rather frustrating time of year for me. Growing up, getting my hands on a box (or six) of Samoas was ridiculously easy. I wasn’t a Girl Scout, but I knew plenty of girls who were, and my mom’s coworkers had daughters who needed to sell oodles of those cookies.
Guess who was happy to help!
But as I got older, my ability to acquire said magical cookies dwindled. I moved to a college town, and other than the one glorious box my mom would send me now and again, I was left cookie-less and sad.
How is a girl to survive without all that caramel, chocolate, and toasted coconutty goodness?!
HOW I ASK YOU?!
Well, with these Samoa scones, that’s how.
Every year I bring you a Samoa-inspired recipe, because every year I stare longingly at boxes of Samoas (or Caramel De-lites or whatever you wish to call the cookie of the gods) and decide to make a dessert inspired by my favorite cookie of all time.
The Samoa Doughnuts have been my favorite so far, but then these Samoa Scones happened and well…
it’s the equivalent of having cookies for breakfast.
Yeah, I know. Best idea ever.
They also happen to be incredibly easy to make. Sure, they look all fancy with their multiple drizzles of chocolate and caramel, but really it’s all a matter of layering. Take some plain scones, drizzle
a huge an appropriate amount of melted chocolate over them, followed by an even more huge another appropriate amount of melted caramel. Top with toasted coconut, and you are in Girl Scout Cookie Heaven.
We all know those boxes don’t include nearly enough cookies anyway, so why not just whip up these scones instead? They go great with your morning cup of coffee, or even a nighttime cup of hot cocoa.
Or a daytime cup of hot cocoa – it’s been ridiculously cold here in NJ and sometimes I need to balance out all the coffee consumption with hot chocolate, otherwise I may start bouncing off the walls.
I hope these Samoa Scones satisfy your need for Girl Scout Cookies until such time you can acquire as many boxes as possible! If you do ever reach that point…maybe send me a few?
