Another Friday is upon us. This one, wouldn’t you know, brings sunshine and not-so-tundra-like temperatures. I almost thought it couldn’t be done.
They’re calling for 50 degrees on Sunday!
Don’t ask me who “they” are; I’ve decided I loathe all weather-people in a way only one who has experienced the polar vortex can.
I know they don’t actually control the weather, but do you really need to tell me it’s 16 degrees but it feels like -10? Couldn’t you just lie to me and leave me with the 16?
Seriously. My brain is so addled by the cold weather I may actually believe you.
Well, regardless of the cold weather or slightly-less-than-horrible weather, I bring you another smoothie to keep you on your healthy eating kick!
Or, you know, to start you on one.
Actually, scratch that. I’m here to share with you an utterly phenomenal breakfast smoothie that happens to be healthy, but also manages to be creamy and full of comforting flavor.
As if I hadn’t expressed my love for chai tea enough in the past, what with the chai oatmeal cookies, chai muffins, and chai spice doughnuts, here’s a true breakfast inspired by the tea that won’t kill you on calories.
Although I will stick with my assumption that eating chai spice doughnuts is a perfectly acceptable way to start your morning. Since it totally is and you know it.
If you didn’t, you wouldn’t be the lovely readers I so adore and appreciate chatting with every few days. 🙂
I stuck with the same groovy smoothie base I’ve shared with you in the Blueberry Lemon Smoothie last week: oats, greek yogurt (honey-flavored this time!) a banana, and then plenty of actual chai tea and warm, cozy spices to warm you up even in a cool and creamy smoothie.
Forget the iced chai tea latte: this chai breakfast smoothie is a fraction of the cost, both in real money and those silly calories that people keep telling me I should be concerned about.
Calories are indeed a joke right? I saw that label on the back of Nutella, for example. They must have meant 20 tablespoons for that many calories, not 2 tablespoons.
Who eats only 2 tablespoons of nutella? Seriously?
NO ONE WITH TASTEBUDS THAT’S WHO!
But back to the smoothie. It is truly full of protein, calcium, potassium, and flavor. You will adore it and it will easily take over your morning routine.
Don’t fight it. Just jump on the smoothie bandwagon as soon as it comes to a kitchen near you.
You’ll be so happy you did.
I’ll be back on Monday with another marvelous muffin recipe, so be sure to stay tuned!
