Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie
I thought today I would bring you a recipe to finish up any summer berries you have lying around. Though personally I cannot wait for Autumn (PUMPKIN AND APPLE EVERYTHINGGGGG), I realize there are slightly more normal people out there who enjoy the current season they are in instead of pining for the one that is about to arrive.
Even though Fall is by far the most awesome of all the seasons.
But today is all about summer!
….and cheesecake FOR BREAKFAST!
Yep. You heard me.
There’s also a good chance you read the title of today’s post and sort of saw that coming., but I like to shout about delicious breakfast treats so let’s pretend you were surprised.
“Cheesecake for breakfast? But how?!”
With this splendid Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie, you can have your cheesecake and drink it too!
Okay, so I probably won’t get a call from Jamba Juice or Smoothie King to make their commercials, but it’s still an incredibly awesome way to start your day.
I changed up my favorite Triple Berry Breakfast Smoothie to feature all strawberries, along with a dash of cream cheese and a light, fluffy, freshly whipped cream topping.
You could also top it with a few graham cracker crumbs, which I bet would be out of this world. My plans were to do so, but then I had a panic attack as I saw some little critter burrowed its way into my sealed graham cracker package.
Needless to say I re-packaged my
entire life pantry in plastic/glass containers, but alas, no graham cracker crumbs to top my smoothie.
Not that it needs any additional topping, though. The homemade dollop of whipped cream? PERFECTION, PEOPLE. I left it all nice and pretty for the picture, but definitely stir that into your smoothie before consuming for full cheesecake-slash-I’ve-gone-to-heaven-experience.
True, it’s a little on the decadent side, but have you every looked at the amount of calories in store-bought smoothies?!
So I think I can be a little bad now and then with my smoothies, especially when they are a fraction of the cost.
If blueberry (or raspberry!) cheesecake is more your thing, go ahead and switch out the strawberries for your favorite fruit! As I continue to wait eagerly for Autumn to arrive, I already have dreams of sipping a cinnamon apple cheesecake smoothie on my way to work in the morning.
With this post, I officially say
See ya suckers! goodbye and farewell to summer, and hello to apples, pumpkins, and fall…
even if it’s not officially here yet.
Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie
- 1 cup strawberries, chopped (frozen if you have them!)
- 1 banana, sliced
- 3/4 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp cream cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- pinch of sugar
- Combine all ingredients except heavy cream and pinch of sugar in your blender. Pulse/Blend until mixture is smooth. Refrigerate while you make the whipped topping.
- Beat heavy cream and sugar until stiff peaks form, either with a stand or hand mixer. You can whip it by hand but it will take some work! Use any additional/leftover whipped cream on anything you like!
- Dollop a healthy spoonful of whipped cream on top of smoothie, or stir directly into smoothie before enjoying.
